The jet-ski 'scratch scam' on Koh Samui is a documented thing — police records show dozens of cases per year. We don't book guests with scammy operators. Our partners do photo+video pre-inspection in front of you, every time, before you ride out. Zero scam risk.
Three beaches operate jet skis: Chaweng (the busiest), Bophut (calmer water, smaller setup), and Maenam (smallest, most relaxed). We work with one operator per beach. All have insurance papers we can show you and all do filmed pre-inspection of the ski before you take it.
The 30-minute rental is enough to learn the throttle and do the beach loop. The 60-minute lets you ride out to Koh Som or Five Islands — far more rewarding once you're confident.
Briefing covers throttle, the lanyard kill switch (always wear it), and the no-go zones (swimming areas, the pier). Helmets aren't standard on Thai jet skis; life jackets are mandatory.
Best time: late afternoon (16:00-17:30) — water is calmer, the light is better for photos, and the beach operators are less rushed. Avoid the hottest midday (11:00-14:00) and definitely avoid Friday/Saturday peak when the beach is crowded.

What is the 'scratch scam'?
Some Samui jet-ski operators inspect the ski quickly before you ride out, then claim you scratched it on return — demanding ฿20,000-50,000 cash. Police have documented dozens of cases. We avoid those operators. The ones we work with do photo+video pre-inspection in front of you and have it on file. Zero scam risk.
Can we ride out to another island?
60-minute rental allows up to ~12km — out to Koh Som and back, or up to Five Islands. Don't try Pig Island; it's too far and the operators won't insure that route.
Can a non-swimmer ride?
With a life jacket, yes — and the operators won't let you out without one. But the briefing assumes you can stay calm if you fall off; tell us if you can't swim and we'll send a passenger-only option.
