Sai runs a small private fishing boat on Samui's east coast. Five guests at most, and real fishing, not the line-and-bait dabbling the day trips do. Three slots: a half day at dawn, a six-hour night run with squid lights, or a full day for the serious.
The boat is a 25-foot diesel inboard with a small cabin, two outriggers for trolling, and rod holders for six rods at once. Sai owns the boat and runs the day; he's been fishing the east-coast spots for two decades and the success rate is high.
The half day at dawn is the most booked: leave the pier at 06:30 as the sun comes up, motor 30 minutes to the inshore spots, fish bottom rigs for snapper and grouper, and be back at the pier by 10:00.
The night run is for guests who want the specific experience of squid fishing under floodlights. Six hours, 18:00 to midnight, the boat lit up like a fairground. We can add a Thai dinner for ฿700/person.
The full day is for guests who treat fishing seriously: out at first light, several spots through the day, lunch on the boat. Sai adjusts the plan to what you're trying to catch.
What to bring: a hat, sunscreen, and a windbreaker for the night trip. Sai supplies all rods, tackle, bait, drinks and water. You bring food, or order it through us. A same-day cancellation is charged in full; to postpone, WhatsApp us before 18:00 the day before. Trips run in normal rain, and if the operator cancels for weather or a mechanical fault, you get another date or a full refund.

Questions guests ask
Why go private instead of the joint Day Fishing trip?
Group size. The joint trip takes up to 22; this boat takes 5 at most. You move spots when you want, the captain rigs each rod individually, and you can target specific species. If you're four or five, ask for a quote and compare it per head with the joint trip.
What gets caught?
Snapper, grouper, parrotfish, barracuda, the occasional kingfish. The captain has 20 years on these spots and knows where they are at each tide. Honest expectation: 6–10 fish per person on a good day.
Can the captain prepare the catch?
Yes. The pier restaurant grills your fish Thai-style for a small charge per fish, served with rice and dipping sauce. Most groups eat there after the trip. Food on board is BYO, or we add Thai food for ฿700/person.
